Arthritis pain affects pets just as it affects human beings and is just as painful.  Sometime the cold weather is a big problem causing pain more so than warmer days and lots of sunshine.  Joints start to ache, and swelling become evident particularly in humans.  Recognizing any swelling in your dog is difficult, but paying close attention and observing their mobility that changes are beginning to take place, is a warning sign that medication will become necessary.  The sure signs of arthritis when your dog’s joints are irritated and painful, they will begin licking their joints and will sometime run into furniture, or do not always hear you right away. The treatment of homeopathic pet meds is capable of curing a number of illness and diseases in animals, such as, acute diarrhea, asthma, skin irritations, bites and stings, bleeding, chronic ailments, allergies, cancer, chronic gastric and intestinal problems, and arthritis.

Homeopathic treatment in dogs will help to calm their pain by using this remedy.  Humans have used this method for centuries, however success has been gained in using a few drops a day of medication containing a minute dosage which stimulates the dogs body by healing themselves. Popularity has increased with homeopathic pet meds.  Homeopathy is a natural therapeutic method opposed to highly expensive prescribed medications, and stimulates the dog’s body into healing or at least alleviating some of their pain.  Centuries ago, animals healed their wounds by seeking out healing herbs of many varieties, but this is not to say that you should not contact your veterinarian. If you are in doubt what medical issue is affecting your dog, have them checked out.  Depending on the severity of the illness, must be the guide for the pet parent to discuss methods of urgency care in order to keep your pet safe.  If you are a cat lover, consider this method as well.  Let no stone be unturned.  Be Happy!

Homeopathic Meds for Cats and Dogs

The use of homeopathic medicine to treat pets is not new, but the use of this natural treatment has generated more attention in recent years.  pet_sick-dogHomeopathic treatments will not cause side effects and stimulates the pets own immune system in the process of healing.  Homeopathy that has been around since the 1700’s and has benefited humans, so it is accepted for our pets in giving them a better chance of living a long and healthy life.  Remedies are produced by using flower essences from 38 different botanical plants and are created by floating blossoms in water for several hours, or boiling them usually for half an hour.  Much of the preparation used in the development of homeopathic pet meds is by isolating chemicals in plants, and using herbs to cure diseases and heal injuries. Considerable research is put into ingredients in formulas used to produce homeopathic med.  Herbal medicine had been used by settlers and natives for many different cures and in some areas, is still used.

A convenient method of using herbs is chopped, and steeped in warm water to break down cellulose before administering to dogs.  This is because the digestion is difficult for the dog.  Herbs can also be used by pet parents to keep fleas off, cure digestive upsets that are not severe, and soothe skin that is irritated.  This information has been related to the pet parent by articles read in homeopathic treatments. Arthritis can be controlled with various 531905226_68fe4a2daf_olevels of relief by using liquid oral drops.  Dogs and cats will experience relief and may return to some of their normal activities.  Our pets cannot tell us about their arthritic pains when trying to get up and down stairs, or have less inclination in jumping or climbing.  This is the reason the pet parent should pay particular attention to their dog or cats walking, limping and favoring one side of the body to the other.  Pet Bounce is a reliable source of homeopathic treatment and easy to administer.  Be Happy!

Dogs that are aging will suffer joint pain that will cause discomfort in getting up and down.  Arthritis will start to set in causing pet joint pain and if your dogdog is overweight, will cause even worse discomfort for them in their ability in moving around.  Your dog should have visits to their veterinarian at least once a year.  Large dogs start to slow down with noticeable change in their behavior as they age.  Joint pain affects some smaller breeds if aging starts to progress rapidly.  This may not always be the case, but it is certainly important in maintaining their health as best as you possibly can.  They are part of your family and no one wants to experience conditions that take away some of their mobility.  Dog’s joints deteriorate just like humans, and comfort is necessary to reduce pressure by having a soft orthopedic bed for them to sleep on.  Raising their food bowl and water bowl up from the floor, relieves the pressure in having to stoop down to the floor to eat and drink.

Seasons change and when cold weather starts in early fall, try to maintain your walks with your dog.  Understanding that they are getting old, does not snoopy-tn539_14061056-1-xmean exercise should stop.  Walking helps to reduce stress on their joints, but be aware of when they become tired and start slowing down in their stride.  Cold weather is hard on dogs with having pet joint pain, and you, as their pet parent will be particular in what they are allowed to do.  Swimming is excellent if there is some place available for your dog to swim.  This is wonderful on their joints and relieves a good deal of their pain as they exercise.  Your dog will love you even more for being considerate in taking care of them.  Be Happy!

Medication Tricks on My Dog

Oh my goodness, trying to give my dog his medication is like trying to open 2607656157_0c8366f9c5a lion’s mouth.  My Chocolate Lab will clamp down so hard I cannot even pry his mouth open unless I use a dog mouth opener if there was such a thing.  Unbelievable, I have tried to gently open his mouth and put it back in his throat but guess what, he spits it back out.  No way Jose!   This medication is for his thyroid that he takes twice a day, but he has two other pills he takes once a day for his arthritis and hip dysplasia.  They must taste like a T-bone steak because he actually waits for them every morning.  I found a dog food sausage that I was putting the thyroid pills in, but all of the sudden he decided -no more.

pushpillThen ‘lo and behold’ the vet prescribed another pill for his hip dysplasia, now what do I do.  The girl that clips his nails told me to take a Vienna sausage and cut it in half, then push the pills down the middle, which seemed logical. Well at first, it worked, but after he found out what was inside, he separated the pills and ate the sausage.  Then, here comes the peanut butter that was very tasty, but then after a few days, he got the runs.  Here comes another pill to fix that problem.  All of the sudden the light went on.  I will use potted meat spread, make a little ball, stick all the pills in there, and serve it to him on a fancy plate.  Well I should have a medal for this.  He loves it that way with no more fuss, at least not yet.  I am sure all of us pet lovers have heard the statement “dumb animals,” well if anyone is dumb it probably was me.  I should have been smarter than my dog.  Now I must plan a different route if he decides he’s had enough room service. Perhaps homeopathic pet meds would be the answer.  Be Happy!

Why is Your Dog Limping?

There are many reasons that could cause your dog to limp if arthritis and hip dysplasia is beginning to cause pain.  But other reasons could affect limping.  Perhaps your dog ran too fast and too hard in playing and pulled 3445151563_37bd780f6c_mor strained a muscle.  Maybe your dog jumps a lot in playing, and did not land correctly on all fours.  Do you maintain your dog’s toenails?  Nails should be trimmed on a regular basis, especially if your dog does not walk on sidewalks often.  This helps to keep their nails automatically trimmed to some degree.  Sometime when the dog’s nails are too long, they may break or splinter, causing the skin between the toes to become irritated and cause pain in walking.   Maybe your dog stepped on something that cut the pad under the foot.  These problems can be taken care of without too much fuss, and after resting for a period to heal, your dog will be back to normal.  Just be careful and not let your dog over exert in playing, particularly if your dog is older.

Arthritis can start at an early age, but most of the time affects older dogs.  Their joints begin to ache, and arthritis may have affected the toes which large_101_0174will cause your dog to constantly lick in trying to relieve the pain, and will lay down more than normal.  Limping will occur in this case as well.  Hip joints, elbow joints, knee joints (yes, your dog does have all of these), may become infected with this disease.  Have you ever considered the method of homeopathic treatment in helping to relieve your dog’s pain?  It has been very successful in many cases of arthritis and  has helped to relieve pain in causing pet joint pain

Homeopathic Dog Treatment

It’s very important to maintain a healthy diet for your dog’s well being .  Homeopathic petbouncebottletreatments are safe and without side effects in treating many illnesses and diseases.   Arthritic conditions can be remedied, cancer, ongoing gastric and intestinal problems, asthma, and joint discomforts can be effective in symptoms of disease or pain by homeopathic treatments.  Pet Bounce, a homeopathic treatment in liquid form, has been mentioned on CNN, Fox35, MSNBC, and USA Today, for treating arthritis, hip problems, and ….  The dog’s immune system can be stimulated by this treatment, and will help lessen the possiblity of the return of an illness or a disease.  The remedies of homeopathic medicine, are products which are gathered in animal or plant origins, and also from different minerals.

I’m sure there has been times that your dog has eaten grass, and polls_dog_eating_grass_4706_443671_poll_xlargethe pet parent does not understand why they do this.  It has been known from past experiences and research that by eating  the grass, settles their stomach from pain, (tummy aches) and after digesting the grass,  will vomit and will feel better.  This is a natural self treatment that dogs have learned from centuries ago, and is a trait that was born into them in taking care of themselves long before a pet parent was ever heard of.  Homeopathic dog meds are found in various forms, and are entirely harmless with the proper dosage required in treating the dog’s health problem.  Homeopathic treatments have no dangerous side effects.   Dogs, just like humans, experience lifestyles that are unhealthy, and sometime unsanitary, with pollution, stress, and poor nutrition.  Just be aware of your dog’s health in controlling ways in keeping them healthy.  Homeopathic treatment is not only for dogs and cats, but humans can benefit from it as well.  Be Happy!

My Dog Will Fetch, But That’s All

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

There’s a neighbor on our street that plays with her dog on fetching whatever she throws, a stick, play toy of some kind, or a ball. It’s really fun dsc_0215to watch because that little dog brings anything she throws back to her for praise. My dog will fetch, but that’s it. I’ve made the mistake of chasing after him, which is really a no-no, but it’s too late now. He will drop his retrieval on command if I walk up to him, but he won’t bring it back to me. Very irritating, but I shouldn’t complain, because it’s my fault. The pet parent may be into playing fetch, but your doggie may not be. In training to fetch,  throw something, but not too far, and the dog most likely will run after it, but what needs to be done, is to turn around and run away from the dog. Chances are the dog will run toward you with his retrieval and if you really, really praise them, they may drop whatever they have. My dog will get so excited when I move his toy around his body (be careful, your dog’s teeth are very sharp) he will start to run ahead, waiting for me to throw something.

I suppose I never gave it a thought that there was a right way to 200203-main_fullteach them to fetch and return. So don’t make the mistake that I did, and you and your pet will be happy playing together and getting exercise at the same time. Beware of any pet joint pain that may occur if your dog is having arthritic or hip problems. Playing should then be limited to their energy to play. Be Happy!

Pet Joint Pain

Have you ever tried to massage your dog on their back, legs, just above the tail, or around their neck, head, and chest? Do not use a forceful massage, but gently rub rottie20massagearound different areas of their body, and your dog will love it. Arthritis is a big concern along with hip issues and causes more pain to the dog than we can image. They can’t tell us how painful their hurting is, but pet parents can tell when something is not right with their dog. These conditions not only affect older dogs, but younger dogs can also have these health issues at an early age. There may have been a genetic background that the pet parent isn’t unaware of, but can seek advice from their veterinarian. Never consider giving your dog any of your own medications for pain. This can be deadly for them. There are medications available strictly for dogs and/or cats that will help minimize their pain.

If your dog is overweight, this can be a serious problem. Overweight dogs particulally large breeds, causes an extreme burden on their hips and will limit them to activities that they were once accustomed to. If you can, ignore their begging, and decrease the amount of  giving treats to maintain their weight would be a plus. Some dog treats are very healthy, so check the ingredients before purchasing. Playing, running, getting up from lying molly11down, sitting up by command in receiving treats, will increase their pain.  A soft bed with a cushion will help, and will be comfort to them. There are many medications for pet joint pain that offer relief for arthritis that the pet parent may want to consider in treating these ailments. Try it out and see if it helps your dogs pain. Arthritis, Arthritis, Is So Painful

This ailment most probably should be referred to as a disease, and will affect dogarthritis-300x245the elder dogs most of the time, but can affect the young as well. Our dog companions that suffer from this disease have to depend on their pet parent to administer medication to help relieve their pain. Check out the product called Pet Bounce that is on the market for arthritic pet joint pain. When problems are first recognized and walking on slippery floors or steps begin to bother your dog in keeping their balance, put form type material that is used in lining kitchen cabinets on the stairs. Slipping is no longer a problem for them, they have something to grab onto in walking down the stairs.  This suggestion is not to cover all the staircase in a home, but stairs that are available to allow the dog to go outside.

Another way to help is to put a small rug on the areas that would be difficult to walk on, such as hallways, etc. It’s certainly not expected for all the bare floors to be covered, just do the best that is feasible.  Slippery conditions are dangerous for your dog with this condition. Add an additional heavy blanket to sleep dog_bed_black1on if your dog doesn’t have a doggie bed or mattress. Massage is another great thing, dogs love this, and it helps to sooth their ailment, and is wonderful in helping their circulation and is calming at the same time. If your dog is still young, the relief of pain will gradually get better in time. If your dog is older, it may take longer, and medication may be a prolonged treatment that needs to be continued. Cold weather is not conductive to healing, so be patient and time will tell.  Be Happy!
