Dog Life Jackets Save Your Pet

The other evening it was reported on our local news, about a man walking his two dogs, when all of the sudden they broke loose and started to chase some geese that were walking on a slightly frozen pond.  Well, guess what?  They both ran on the canada-goose-mallard-ducks1icy pond and fell in.  The man panicked and jumped in the pond to rescue his dogs not knowing the pond was approximately 10 feet deep.  He could not get out too far because of the ice and was holding on to some large valve when someone saw what was happening and that he was in trouble.  One of the dogs was able to get out by their self, but fortunately the fire department arrived and they were able to save the dog and pull the man out of the water.  The man was somewhat embarrassed and did not want to talk to the media.  Another guess what?  There were signs posted around the pond stating that there is “Thin Ice on the Pond, Do Not Walk on it.”

We all do things that we shouldn’t, but panic sets in and all we can think about is saving our pet.  Every dog owner should have a dog life jacket when lmboat_pfdwalking around a body of water, no matter how large or small the pond or lake is.  It is just too dangerous not having one for your pet.  You probably think that there is no way you are buying any dog life jackets, whether you have one, two, or however many dogs you have.  Come on now and be sensible.  When you are out in the water boating or skiing, you wear a life jacket I hope, so why not your dog?  They are not expensive for what their purpose is, saving your dog.  Be Happy!

Who, Where and When Takes Care of Cleaning Up After Your Dog?

Dogs as we all know come in different sizes, shapes, and color, but some have temperaments and personalities that will not tolerate children.  Choose a dog that compliments your family and will be a delight to be around.  Talk to your family and listen to their pros and cons.  Dogs are a responsibility, and taking care of them the right way will not be a disappointment.  Will there be just one person in the family that will take care of the dog, or shared within the family?  A balanced diet is necessary to keep dogs healthy, groomed, trained, have room to play, exercised, and room to relieve themselves when necessary.  A balanced diet, grooming, training ….  doggie-pooper-scooper1is essential, but the one big thing is ‘poop’ in your yard.  Who will take on the responsibility in cleaning it up on a regular basis?  This is important because of diseases that it carries, problems with flies, stepping in it, and causes contamination in our waterways.  It is estimated that dog poop in our waterways are one quarter contaminated by the lack of responsibility in cleaning up after our dog. This is especially of concern when walking your dogs in parks, and areas that provide them to exercise and run,  but just be sure if there is a lake or pond around that your dog has their dog life jacket on.  Accidents are certainly not something a pet parent is looking for in taking their dog for their daily walk.

Picking up in your yard will eliminate the unpleasant and unsightly problems of stepping in your dog’s poop that carries over billions of bacteria and parasites, and contains parasitic organisms, and salmonella.  Walking your dog is also a responsibility in picking up after them to avoid children who could accidentally step in it while at play.   What is the big deal dog-poop-dispenser-747895-780723about carrying a plastic bag to remove your dog’s poop?  Some areas even provide containers that administer plastic bags and containers for disposal, so please be cognizant of your responsible as a pet parent and help to improve our way of life.     Be Happy!
