Mobility Care for Arthritic Dogs

I would guess that sometime pet parents get tired of hearing about dogs getting arthritis and having difficulty walking, going up and down stairs, jumping into the family vehicle, and most likely, lack of desire in playing, but it is a fact, particularly in older dogs.  Arthritis has been a painful disease for decades and can affect dogs just as it affects humans.  There are many types of medication available to alleviate pain and sometime may possibly cure the disease for a period of time, but unfortunately it always appears once again.  This is a difficult process for the pet parent to accept the difficulty their dog is having moving around and perhaps the disease may take over before treatment, or perhaps unnoticed which is not uncommon.

For the pet parent to assist in helping the arthritic dog, there are various physical aids to choose from in helping their dogs mobility care with a dog mobility leash that is placed behind their front legs.  This will take pressure off while walking and getting up and down, but depending on the severity of the onset of arthritis in your pet, there are several ways of placing a dog mobility leash to allow dogs with weak front legs to maneuver around, as they once were able to do.   A complete body support system that works very well to help support the front and back end of the dog’s body that is comfortable and adjusts quite easily.  This type of support has been recommended for dogs recovering from surgery and going through rehabilitation, and do not forget, weight control is always suggested for the arthritic dog.  Be Happy!

Dog Mobility Harness

Sad but true, but some breeds of dogs suffer from joint pain, hip pain, and bladder problems that will lead to lack of mobility to function.  Some can be seriously ill with medical problems, and then there are dogs that need just a little bit of help in moving around.  Getting up and down from lying on the floor, trying to climb stairs, or any other activities that at one time was not a mobility problem. Unfortunately your dog cannot tell you how much they hurt, or how difficult it is to walk.  Pet parents that spend a lot of time with their dog will begin to notice problems that were not there before.  It is heartbreaking to watch them trying to get up from the floor, and climbing stairs will really be a problem for them.  A special senior pet care mobility harness helps to lift and aid your dog, and is easy to handle.  Your dog may not approve of a new thing you are trying to put around their body, but once accomplished, will help to lift some of their weight relieving joint pain that they are suffering from.  The mobility harness is wide enough to go under their body and supports their rib cage.  This will allow less pressure in their discomfort zone and will be able to go up stairs, get into your vehicle with your help, or maybe even helping them to get up from their bed will be so much easier.

Arthritis is treatable and does not mean that they cannot continue a good life, and a happy one.  A heating pad placed on visible areas is soothing, but always make sure there is a towel between the heating pad and your dogs skin.  Use your own judgment, there is no difference when the pet parent using a heating pad.  Their skin can become irritated or even obtain a slight burn if not careful.  Always make sure your dog has plenty of water, if they are not eating as they should, that is okay, but not consuming water regularly, there is a possibility of dehydration.  If there is any way to exercise your dog, do so.  The movement of their legs causes lubrication to their joints and helps in relieving some of their pain.  None of us want to see our dog suffer, but when products are available to handle them with ease, then we should do all we can in helping them.  Be Happy!
