Do Your Really Need Pet Insurance?

Sunday, June 13, 2010

You be the judge, compare pet insurance because so many pet parents are choosing to put their pet ‘down’ because they cannot afford pet insurance, which is a personal decision, but one that should be given major consideration.  More than likely when your dog needs medical treatment will be something that can be taken care of by your veterinarian at a cost most likely affordable, but what if something major is over taking your dog’s body and may be a situation of life or death. This decision is very difficult in times of hardship and distress and is a terrible concern to pet parents who have no pet insurance to carry some of the financial load.  Medication for non-significant issues that can be treated is usually less of a burden, but still of concern when money is short.

What is the answer cannot be determined on how much money the pet parents have, or how much they love their pet, but what is best for the pet.  Purchasing pet insurance for the family pet at a very early age, will in time benefit the pet parent a great deal when they will actually need it. There are many choices of coverage from pulling teeth, yearly shots, or when you take your dog for their yearly physical, but usually all of these services are under $600 and does not affect family budgets as much as if the cost would be several thousand dollars for their treatment.  When the cost becomes that high, the pet parent wants to do what is best for their pet and in considering that the severity of the dog’s health problems may not warrant continuing to try to save your pet, a decision will be made.  Be Happy!

Pit Bulls & Dobermans

I have never been around a Pit Bull and I do not pretend to know anything about them or their nature as being a pet.  I do know that these dogs are set apart compared to other dogs as being a dangerous dog.  Dobermans had this type of profile as well, and were unjustly accused of being aggressive dogs that had a mean sprit within their body.  All one had to do was to see a Doberman, and were instantly intimidated just like Pit Bulls.

Having a dog of this breed demands  attention as to their safety.  Poisoning, or whatever evil is in the minds of humans is not to be ignored.  It should be a priority of having pet insurance to help situations such as this, and always keep a watchful eye on your dog to make sure they can live a long and happy life.  I had a Doberman many years ago, and anyone that would see him, backed off in fear.  He was a real pussycat.  Be Happy!

Dogs Need Exercise

Dogs are no different in needing exercise to keep in shape and stay healthy avoiding medical problems, just as much as their pet parents need to exercise.  They have health insurance, but does your dog.  Pet insurance will relieve the strain of large medical bills.  If dogs have a large yard to play and run in, that is great, but what about the dogs who live in an apartment and only go outside to smell the roses.

Large dogs particularly need to have at least 30 minutes of exercise once a day, but it is recommended twice a day would be better.  Exercise keeps your dog’s joints lubricated, which in turn can prevent arthritis that usually affects large dogs, and can be crippling if left unattended.  Exercise keeps pet parents’ minds stimulated, and it does the same for their dog.  Enjoy life together to avoid possible health problems. Be Happy!

Do I Really Need Pet Insurance?

This is the consensus of most pet parents during this time of economical crisis.  This is understandable in trying to take care of financial responsibilities, but thinking and planning toward maintaining your pet’s health is important.  The cost of veterinarian treatments, medication, ex-rays, lab work, and surgeries…has risen drastically the past several years.   Possibilities of health problems during your pet’s lifetime, is a wise choice for purchasing pet insurance.  If you have a large purebred dog, there may be some genetic illnesses such as hip dysplasia that may turn out to be is very expensive.  Not all large pure breed dogs are affected, and this is something that research may possibly help in understanding just what breeds have this condition.  However, many genetic conditions affect other dogs.  This is why it is so important to keep an eye on your dog.  Behaviors that are not normal will be noticeable for any abnormal mobility changes.  Genetic conditions by defect in the underlying genes from parents of puppies or kittens can cause many difficulties in living a long and normal life. That is why I mentioned above on being cognizant of your pet’s behavior.  It will tell you so much of how they feel and if they are in pain.  Conditions can remain dormant for many years, so you as the pet parent can notice changes in their behavior.

Pet parents need to “embrace” their pets with pet insurance that will cover illnesses and lead a normal life. Treating hip dysplasia could will end up with surgery if not caught in time, and that may not always be successful.  There are hundreds of genetic conditions that will affect not only purebreds, but other dogs.  I guess you could look at it this way; humans contact certain medical problems as they grow older, pets are no different.  Keep in mind that pain relieving medication and supplements will add up, so just consider the alternative.  I am so conscious of this particular problem, because my boy Pope is suffering from this ailment.  Had I known 14 years ago, pet insurance was available; things could have been different financially and his life could have been made easier.  Be Happy!

Reconstruction to Website

For the past several weeks I have been working on the addition of products that are replacing others, and including new choices that I believe will be exciting to pet parents.  Whether you have a young dog or an older one, there are so many products available these days that were not available earlier when perhaps we as pet parents really needed them.  Technology toward the maintenance of our dog’s health, safety, and welfare is out there for pet lovers to embrace.  In doing so, dogs will live a better and much longer life than ever before.  The updated addition will be adding new vehicles car barriers, orthopedic pet beds, and beds to make their kennels and crates more comfortable.  A new feature that is exciting will be wonderful wooden pet crates that are constructed to use as an end table to your sofa or chair (even next to your bed), retractable leashes that have some awesome names (10 different ones), and pet fountains.  You will not believe the pet gates that will be available.  Beautiful wooden freestanding gates that can be displayed anywhere you choose in keeping your pet confined in your home when you prefer them to stay within limits allowed.  You will be able to purchase pet feeders that will hold two meals, pet food and water stations, and pet stairs.  Finally and yet importantly, flea and tick control to keep off those horrible pests that can cause such problems during the spring and summer months.  Itching and scratching is hard on your dog and can cause terrible skin irritations.

These items will be available in a few weeks with much anticipation in offering items that are not only attractive, but also useful.  What happy faces your dogs will be in experencing these new products.  I am planning toward this all-taking place sooner, but it is time consuming in putting everything together.  What will also be different in the reconstruction of my website with these new products, you will be able to purchase them directly from my site.  I will continue the referral on several other products to other sites such as pet insurance … but you will notice the difference in appearance.  I will give a heads up when the completion becomes closer to reality.  Be Happy!

Happy Easter to Pet Parents and Their Pets

Petguardianangel and Petsafetyblog wish all a Happy Easter

I was just thinking the fun we had as children growing up and having Easter egg hunts on Easter Sunday.  All the preparations ahead of time dying eggs, coloring them and creating delightful Easter baskets with goodies galore.  Please keep in mind that dogs love chocolate, but do not give them any because it can be fatal.  You do not want to experience a tragedy that could have been avoided.  Give them one of their treats they love instead.

Just because we are not children anymore does not mean that this tradition should stop, and I am quite positive that it is still a celebration that will go on … Happy Easter , and Be Happy!

Save Money by Purchasing Pet Insurance

Have you ever noticed when you are among pet lovers and the subject of pet insurance comes into the discussion? There will be some pet parents that will say, “I’ve been thinking about pet insurance, but just have not done anything about it,” then there are the ones that say, “I just cannot afford it, it is too expensive,” or, “I’ll think about it later.”  I can understand this attitude because I had not heard about pet insurance with any of my previous dogs, or the one I now have.  Sure wish I did know, because all through those many years I could have saved myself some money by realizing that there was a choice.  Now it is too late for me to purchase pet medical insurance because my dog is too old, and has existing medical problems.

Years ago, veterinarian expenses were not as steep as they are today, and the financial burden would not have had to be as devastating as it is now.  Purchasing pet insurance lowers financial worries in maintaining your dog’s health in knowing that you can afford to keep them healthy by having insurance.  Pets have a way in showing their own love and affection, just as pet parents share their love and understanding of the choices made to benefit them and their pet. Many choices of various health plans will cover sickness, injury, and other problems associated in maintaining your pet’s health. Visits to the Veterinary Clinic can turn out to be quite expensive depending on what problems that are involved.  If possible, do yourself a favor by adding pet insurance to your financial responsibilities when they are puppies or kittens. When you decide on what plan you feel will benefit you and your pet, be sure and inquire about what they offer towards any emergencies that could arise while your puppy is still young, or even when they are older.  Accidents can happen and you want to know in advance what is covered. Deciding later to purchase pet insurance, keep in mind that pets are insured up to a certain age, if pet insurance was not purchased when they were young.  The insurance companies determine that, so check them out for the various plans they offer and you will be delighted that you made the right choice. There are some insurance companies that will cover more than one pet with discounts, so check that out as well. Be Happy!

Pet Insurance for ‘a’ Pet or ‘this’ Pet Is a Decision

Sunday, February 28, 2010

When you apply for a job at a large company and are hired with benefits offered in a package, inquire if they offer pet insurance.  This is gaining in popularity and the percentage of companies doing so is growing. Rather you are willing to take care of ‘a’ pet, or ‘this’ pet, is a big decision you must live with.  If you just want ‘a’ pet for whatever reason, and are not willing to give the care and attention your pet deserves, do not do it.  If ’a’ pet gets sick and down and out, you will most probably have this pet euthanized, because you are not willing to spend money to take care of them.  Purchasing ‘a’ pet should not be considered if it is to satisfy his or her own wants and desires, but giving a loving home and taking care of ‘this’ pet will give you enjoyment and happiness.   Yes, there are times when there are no other alternatives other than to put your pet down, and you will know when that time comes.

A good candidate for purchasing pet insurance for ‘this’ pet is the one that is willing to do what it takes to keep them healthy and safe.  A dollar amount is not set when ’this’ pet is part of your family and I am sure you would not make a decision of this kind when ’this’ pet is in need.  Taking care of them is a lifetime experience, worrying when they get sick or have an injury or a serious illness.  This is natural for the person who has love and compassion for any living thing, whether it is human or animal.  It is understood that with the economy the way it is now, every dollar counts.  I have heard people say “I can’t even afford my own insurance, much less a dog’s,” and this is understandable.  If you already own a dog, do the best you can and talk to your veterinarian if you are experiencing financial problems.  If you do not have a dog, do not get one, at least not now if things are tight.  When this economy started going downhill, there was not much we could do about it.  So do the best you can under the circumstance. Be Happy!

Doggie Jobs Are Hard To Find These Days

A local business was looking for office help.  They put a sign in the window, stating the following: “HELP WANTED.”  The criteria was, “Must be able to type, must be good help-wanted-signwith a computer and must be bilingual.  We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.”

A short time afterwards, a dog trotted up to the window, saw the sign and went inside.  He looked at the receptionist and wagged his tail, then walked over to the sign, looked at it and whined.

Getting the idea, the receptionist went and got the office manager.  The office manager looked at the dog and was surprised, to say the least.  However, the dog henryk-t-kaiser-pekingese-dog-sitting-on-a-chair-at-the-tablelooked determined, so he led him into the office.  Inside, the dog jumped up on the chair and stared at the manager.

The manager said, “I can’t hire you.  The sign says you have to be able to type.”  The dog jumped down, went to the typewriter and proceeded to type out a perfect letter.  He took out the page and trotted over to the manager and gave it to him, then jumped back on the chair.

The manager was stunned, but then told the dog “the sign says you have to be good with a computer.”  The dog jumped down again and went to the computer.  The dog proceeded to enter and execute a perfect program that worked flawlessly the first time.

By this time, the manager was totally dumb-founded!  He looked at the dog and said, “I  realize, that you are a very intelligent dog and have some interesting abilities.  However, I still cannot give you the job.”

The dog jumped down, went over to the copy of the sign that had additional information, and put his paw on the sentences that told about being an Equal Opportunity Employer.  The manager said, “Yes, but the sign also says that you have to be bilingual.”

The dog looked at the manager calmly and said, “Meow!”  “You do offer Pet Insurance, do you not?”  Be Happy!
