Pet Insurance for ‘a’ Pet or ‘this’ Pet Is a Decision

When you apply for a job at a large company and are hired with benefits offered in a package, inquire if they offer pet insurance.  This is gaining in popularity and the percentage of companies doing so is growing. Rather you are willing to take care of ‘a’ pet, or ‘this’ pet, is a big decision you must live with.  If you just want ‘a’ pet for whatever reason, and are not willing to give the care and attention your pet deserves, do not do it.  If ’a’ pet gets sick and down and out, you will most probably have this pet euthanized, because you are not willing to spend money to take care of them.  Purchasing ‘a’ pet should not be considered if it is to satisfy his or her own wants and desires, but giving a loving home and taking care of ‘this’ pet will give you enjoyment and happiness.   Yes, there are times when there are no other alternatives other than to put your pet down, and you will know when that time comes.

A good candidate for purchasing pet insurance for ‘this’ pet is the one that is willing to do what it takes to keep them healthy and safe.  A dollar amount is not set when ’this’ pet is part of your family and I am sure you would not make a decision of this kind when ’this’ pet is in need.  Taking care of them is a lifetime experience, worrying when they get sick or have an injury or a serious illness.  This is natural for the person who has love and compassion for any living thing, whether it is human or animal.  It is understood that with the economy the way it is now, every dollar counts.  I have heard people say “I can’t even afford my own insurance, much less a dog’s,” and this is understandable.  If you already own a dog, do the best you can and talk to your veterinarian if you are experiencing financial problems.  If you do not have a dog, do not get one, at least not now if things are tight.  When this economy started going downhill, there was not much we could do about it.  So do the best you can under the circumstance. Does Your Dogs Eyes Tear?

Some dogs have a problem with their eyes tearing and can be a problem in keeping them clean.  It seems as though light colored dogs have this angels_glow_animated1problem more than others do, and the discoloration sometimes has an offensive odor.  Take your dog to their veterinarian for a checkup just to make sure there are no infections, or may have extra eyelashes that could cause the problem. These conditions are usually controllable, but other problems may be harder to overcome.  Many dogs have allergies, fleas and mites and this could be the problem.  There drinking water may contain a high mineral content, and their diet may create tearing.  It could also be their genetic predisposition, which would be difficult in curing.  Some diets can become a problem if you feed canned dog food all the time.  They need more nutrition in their diets that do not contain high levels of salt, preservatives, chemicals, and sugar.  None of these provides a healthy diet for your pet.  High quality dog food should be alternated between the canned dog food in providing more nutrients and may be a bit more expensive.  However, in the long run, feeding a well balanced diet may deter medical problems causing expensive medical bills.  Pet health information is advisable  before a serious condition occurs.

If you are raising your dog in rural areas where water is provide by using well water, this could cause problems because of the various minerals that 390are involved.  Bottled water or distilled water has become popular in solving tear staining.  Have you ever heard of adding a small amount of vinegar to your dog’s water dish?   Until they are accustomed to the taste, a little more can be added, but you know what, I think I would rather buy bottled water then to take a chance on using vinegar even though it has been suggested that the PH is changed by using this method.  You be the judge.  Be Happy!

Old Dogs Never Give Up, They Just Want To Please

I know, I have one!  What a character, he has ailments that cause him pain, but he still wants to play.  Sure wish I would have known about pet insurance when he was a puppy.  Now it is too late.  He is 13, going on 14 years 111732-main_fullold, and takes medication for his thyroid, arthritis, and hip dysplasia.  Just recently had ex-rays taken of his stomach and chest areas, and everything was okay.  His vet is amazed at his stamina and tells me all the time what a great dog he is.  He had problems coming down the stairs once he was upstairs, but the vet prescribed another medication to help his hip dysplasia, and it seems to be working for him.  Pet parents need to watch their dog’s diet, and keep their weight down when they age.  Working or hunting dogs require more to eat, but if your dog is a housedog like mind is, there requirements in their diets become less.  Exercise is very important for good health, and if you can walk your dog often, this will help keep them healthy.  Joint pain may deter your dog’s enthusiasm for this kind of exercise, so pay attention to their movements in walking.  It is possible that limitations will need to be enforced.

Maintain their daily activities, take them for health checkups, and if they have fleas, medication applied between their shoulders on a monthly basis pet-a-dogis very affective. Your vet should also check their blood for heartworms.  Medication for this issue was once prescribed for only a few months, but now it is recommended to administer heart worms pills all year long.  Just lots of loving, hugging, and caring for your dog will help them to live a longer life, and give their pet parents companionship for as long as both shall live.  Be Happy!

Homeopathic Meds Lessen Dog Joint Pain

What a wonderful sight it is, to see our pets run and play, but problems involving arthritis can hamper their activity. Pet joint pain is extremely painful and pets tend to lie around more then usual. The problem with all of 200203-main_fullthis is, we as humans recognize and understand the pain and can do something about it, but our precious pets cannot. We as pet parents know when our pets aren’t feeling well and being concerned, will guide us in helping them to feel better. We take medicine for arthritis and find comfort and relief to a certain extent. Pet Bounce is a homeopathic treatment available to help alleviate the pain in our pets joints that are affected, and allow them more mobility in their activities. Maintaining their health is important for a lifestyle of exercise for a healthy body. Weight can be a problem if they are overweight. This prevents movement that is necessary in controlling how they run, walk, or just being a normal, happy dog.

Homeopathic treatment is very unique because the ingredients used at levels of pet_bounce1understanding to be non-toxic. The use of homeopathic ingredients for particular conditions is based on ”homeopathic proving,” and recorded in the Homeopathic Materia Medica. Pet Bounce is a formula that is administered by oral drops into the pets mouth.  This allows the medication to be absorbed quickly into the pet’s bloodstream, and will assure that your pet is receiving the Pet Bounce dosage correctly. From what I understand, this treatment will not remove the problem, but will lessen the joint pain and allow more mobility in walking, climbing stairs, running and playing.  (Part 1 will be availabale soon)  Be Happy!

What Does Pet Insurance En-tail? – Part 1

pet-insurance-11Pet insurance En-tails obligations that all pet parents have in keeping their beloved pet healthy for as long as they are here with you. So many things can happen health wise and to be prepared for all costs of medical bills is more important than you realize. Do you have several thousand dollars available in case your pet becomes ill, or possibly may need surgery when an emergency occurs?

Sick as a dogMany pet parents cannot afford pet insurance during difficulties in maintaining their situation of financial stability. That’s okay, we all know what we can, and what we can’t afford, so if pet insurance is not in your budget as this time, perhaps it will be in the future. Remember that some pet insurance companies will insure pets up to a certain age, and will not cover pre-existing health problems, where other companies will do what they can in helping with the cost, premiums, and deductibles.  Understand the cost of medical coverage and ask for quotes in making your choice of what is better for you and your pet.  Be Happy!

Pet Insurance – Part 2

4414ba8a-54f6-4f62-9fd1-bd0be7e67541_largeSome families have pets and others do not. Naturally that’s a personal decision in owning a pet and having responsibility in taking care of them and keeping them safe. Unfortunately I have found out when pet insurance is mentioned whether they are pet parents are not, their answers are “Pet insurance is not necessary,” “I can’t afford it,” or “I’ll wait until later.” Of course that’s their decision and there is nothing that can be done about their excuse. But, when the time comes, and it will, many a dollar could have been saved to cover unexpected medical problems.

pet-insurance-6Pet insurance is not that expensive and in comparison too not having any insurance veterinarian bills could empty your pocket book in a hurry. If your pet somehow is burned in a fire, has any lacerations, fractures of their bones, allergies to bites from insects, or automobile accidents, these situations are usually covered in accident policies. Other medical problems are covered as well with some limitations.  A penny saved is a dollar earned!  Be Happy!

Pet Insurance – Part 1

pet_insurance-2There are too few pet parents that insure their pets (dogs and/or Cats) to protect their financial situations during these economic times when money is short. If your pet does not have any medical problems at the moment that doesn’t mean that they won’t be subjected to some illness later on that will require visits to the veterinarian’s clinic. If you had already purchased pet insurance, there would not be complications to worry about how you are going to pay for their treatment, which could continue for several months.

petinsurance-31Injuries, accidents that were unexpected, and sickness will occur with 1 out of 3 pets needing medical assistance. Many of us just don’t think about their dogs or cats having any of these problems until they get older, then pet insurance can be difficult to purchase at an older age. Pet insurance was not heard of years ago so there was not a choice in protecting your pet. If you have more than one pet to insure, some companies will offer discounts which could possibly lower the premium.  (See Part 2 for more info)  Be Happy!

Foods You Should Never Give Your Dog – Part 1

chicken_bone-iiA bone given to your dog from your dinner table can cause serious medical problems.  Please don’t do this to your loving pet! The bone can splinter and parts of that bone can puncture some of their organs, or the bone could possibly be swallowed to cause even a greater disaster to your pet.  With serious injury from digesting bones that are harmful, medical emergency may be required.  Emergency vet bills are even more expensive than ordinary medical problems.  Do you have pet insurance to help ease your pocket book?

I know that dogs love to bury their bones if they have the chance, especially if they are outdoor dogs, but the indoor house dogs have no place to bury them so they miss out on the experience of protecting their stash.  I often wondered why this interesting association with burying their bones was so important, but perhaps the dirt helps to maintain the flavor, who knows.  (See Part 2 for more info)  Be Happy!

Foods You Should Never Give Your Dog – Part 2

There is a very large population of humans that eat SUGARY and PROCESSED FOODS which is one of the reasons there are so many obese people. Dogs can’t digest these foods like we humans can, so to keep them healthy, try and give them nutritious food to eat.

mold-mould-rotten1Last, but not least, throw bad food in the garbage or garbage disposal, don’t let your dog eat any old food, rotten food, or moldy foods because they could possibly cause health problems which would create costly veterinarian bills.  If you are one of the wise pet parents that have pet insurance, preventable illness is not covered under any of these conditions.  It’s up to us to prevent any such illness by doing the right thing.  The dog doesn’t know any different!  So the next time your dog gives you that special look like he hasn’t had anything to eat for days,  just be cautious of the food you share with your loving pet. We all know and have seen poor orphan dogs running the streets rummaging through trash, but they don’t have a choice, they have no pet parent to keep them healthy.  Be Happy!
