Arthritis, Arthritis, Is So Painful

This ailment most probably should be referred to as a disease, and will affect dogarthritis-300x245the elder dogs most of the time, but can affect the young as well. Our dog companions that suffer from this disease have to depend on their pet parent to administer medication to help relieve their pain. Check out the product called Pet Bounce that is on the market for arthritic pet joint pain. When problems are first recognized and walking on slippery floors or steps begin to bother your dog in keeping their balance, put form type material that is used in lining kitchen cabinets on the stairs. Slipping is no longer a problem for them, they have something to grab onto in walking down the stairs.  This suggestion is not to cover all the staircase in a home, but stairs that are available to allow the dog to go outside.

Another way to help is to put a small rug on the areas that would be difficult to walk on, such as hallways, etc. It’s certainly not expected for all the bare floors to be covered, just do the best that is feasible.  Slippery conditions are dangerous for your dog with this condition. Add an additional heavy blanket to sleep dog_bed_black1on if your dog doesn’t have a doggie bed or mattress. Massage is another great thing, dogs love this, and it helps to sooth their ailment, and is wonderful in helping their circulation and is calming at the same time. If your dog is still young, the relief of pain will gradually get better in time. If your dog is older, it may take longer, and medication may be a prolonged treatment that needs to be continued. Cold weather is not conductive to healing, so be patient and time will tell.  Be Happy!
